This is a re-buy for me of a book that I've shared with countless people. To put it briefly- My memory was horrible, I couldn't remember names most of the time and had a terrible time studying for tests since I'm a little ADD. Four chapters into this book and I could remember a 50 word list forward and backwards by reading it once. So could everyone I shared the book with. I memorized pi to 200 decimals forwards AND backwards just for practice a few days later. This book would literally sound too good to be true if I told myself about it, but I know better and if you're even reading this review you need to buy this book.You don't even need to read the whole thing, if you're a quick learner you could read the first third of the book and be all set! I'm in the Navy and since reading the book I don't study for rating exams until the week of the test, and haven't scored beneath the top 3% in years, read this book in 2009.
Super Memory- Super Student is a good book for any student that has had trouble studying and memorizing for tests. It was written by Harry Lorayne who is the self proclaimed premier authority on memory training. We read this book in my chemistry class to try and better our memory and help us do better on tests and quizzes.One of the better methods that the author has is mnemonics. It’s a method that uses rhymes and sound alikes to help memorize words. I have used mnemonics before and they have worked very well for me. It works especially well for me when studying for vocabulary because all one has to do is take one part of the word and create something familiar from it to make a memory device. This method is simple and very effective.Another less effective method that he introduces is a way to remember dates and numbers. He assigns letters to each number which is very long and hard to remember. Then often times the letters don’t make sense and it is difficult to create a memory device or phrase to help you memorize it. It would be very hard to memorize all of this especially when someone can use a method that better suits them to memorize dates.This book is good for students that need help memorizing for school. This book also depends largely upon the student and if the method works for them because everyone learns differently and some of these methods might work well for one student but badly for another.

He specializes in memory training, and uses a variety of memory devices such, as mnemonics. He is successful because of his superior memory, and one of his memory books was a NY Times bestseller. The book Super Memory was assigned to me by my teacher, Mr. Halkyard. I was assigned to read it in Chemistry class to help memorize things in chemistry, as well as in other school subjects. Harry Lorayne wrote this book to share his methods of memorizing, in order to help students get better grades. The point of my book review is too show that Super Memory is useful to improve your memory.One thing I do not like about the book is that it is to confusing for a book about memorizing things. How am I supposed to remember all of the memorization methods when I can't even remember what topic the book is focused on? Another thing that I don't like about Super Memory is that there are way too many methods that Harry explains in his book.All of Super Memory is based on techniques that you can use to memorize different things. All of the techniques that Harry writes about take a long time to learn and you need to put in a lot of extra effort in just to memorize and use all of these different methods. Overall, Harry Lorayne writes about memory devices to remember things which help raise your grades. The thing that I like about the book is that Harry uses a good structure to write the book and to show off the different methods even though they are hard to use and remember.
