En esta obra se relata e interpreta el Hain de 1923, celebrado en un tiempo en que los selknam ya se encontraban casi extintos, y documentado con sorprendentes fotografias por el sacerdote y antropologo Martin Gusinde.

Nacio en Los Angeles, Estados Unidos. Es doctora en antropologia con estudios en la Escuela Nacional de Antropologia (Ciudad de Mexico), en la Universidad de Columbia (Nueva York) y en la Universidad de la Sorbona (Paris). En estos centros academicos tuvo oportunidad de estudiar con Paul Kirchhoff, Alfonso Villas Rojas, Karl Polanyi (1957) y Claude Levi-Strauss (1962). A partir de 1955 realizo trabajos de campo en Honduras entre los tolupan (jicaques) y, desde 1965, entre los lencas. Hacia fines de 1964 viajo a Tierra del Fuego, en la Patagonia austral, formando parte de la Mision Archeologique Francaise au Chili Austral, bajo la direccion de la arqueologa Annette Laming-Emperaire. Se iniciaron asi sus trabajos de campo con los ultimos sobrevivientes selknam de Tierra del Fuego, especialmente con Lola Kiepja. En 1985, empezo a trabajar con las ultimas cuatro personas (mujeres) que hablaban el idioma yagan, en el sector chileno de Tierra del Fuego. Fue miembro del Centre Nationale de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, Paris) y ha publicado numerosos articulos en revistas especializadas y algunos libros como Drama and Power in a Hunting Society (1982), Los selknam, La vida de los onas (1986) y Hain Ceremonia de iniciacion selknam (2002). Tambien ha codirigido dos peliculas documentales sobre la historia de los selknam y los yaganes, y ha editado una importante recopilacion de cantos tradicionales selknam.

As a human potential practioner and metaphysician, I'm always on the look out for new tools to better help me understand myself. The Vimala method of handwriting is set become a new tool.From my studies of handwriting analysis, I both know and understand how one's handwriting shows character traits. I also understand that altering one's handwriting can introduce new character traits to the psyche.The Vimala Alphabet technique and its science has already started to shift things within me in the short time I've been practicing it.Back to the book. The book is a fascinating read and, if you are willing to practice the method mentioned in this little book, you can highlight more empowering traits whilst de-emphasising less helpful ones.A great read and a great personal breakthrough guide I look forward to returning to again and again.Definitely worth the money!

Really interesting premise. I've been practicing my handwriting as she mentions in the book and I have found it to be a mindful practice -- almost meditative -- in which you are reminded of your goals and who you want to become every time you write a new letter. I'm only a few days into the daily practice, so, it's still new, but I feel like becoming a conscientious writer, who pays attention to detail and deliberately changes her writing style as a statement about what kind of person she'd like to become is a wonderful way to subtly shape your life.

Really loving this book. It's a different way of looking at self-help but I'm finding it really interesting and am working on it regularly. I've always been interested in understanding what our handwriting says about our personalities. Changing your handwriting is a lot more difficult than you'd think - as soon as you have to write something quickly (i.e. when you're at work) it can be challenging as I find I tend to revert to my old way. But like everything else in life if you are consistent and buy into it you will see change. Some people may have a different opinion when it comes to something like this and I can understand that but I think if you really believe it can help improve your life, thought process or ability to change, I do believe you can see changes no matter how small, as I am definitely seeing changes myself.

I love Vimala Rodgers and her alphabet. I got the kit One Spirit offered several years ago and started practicing my letters. I can say that my handwriting has completely changed and my life has changed for the better. Was it the her alphabet that caused the life change? I don't know, but I love doing my letters. It's part of my morning spiritual practice. I've bought all her books on letters and have started another round of 40 day letters recently.

I learned forty years ago that you CAN change your personality by changing your writing. I wish this book would have been two or so times thicker and had much more info. This really cuts info to the bone. But it has put me on a quest to learn more and that alone was worth the price. It really can change your behavior.

Bought it today and couldn't put it down. What an enriching book. I've got many aha's, and I'll be busy the next 40 days with the exercises. Thanks, Vimala!

Interesting BUT...uses a computer font ...vimalaya?,that is quite lame....No real before and after illustrations of real handwriting anywhere in book.Like dream analysis this is mostly unscientific made up voodoo.Fun but also insulting.Would not recommend at over a dollar!Maybe it’s advice for people generating a computer gen font???Very disappointed in my purchase.

Experimenting with this new way of handwriting has been fun and eye-opening. My mood has definitely improved as a result of this technique. I am more optimistic and confident...try and see how changing your handwriting affects your outlook.
