About the Author

Jim Halderman brings a world of experience, knowledge, and talent to his work. His automotive service experience includes working as a flat-rate technician, a business owner, and a professor of automotive technology at a leading U.S. community college for more than 20 years.

 

He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio Northern University and a Master’s degree in Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Jim also holds a U.S. Patent for an electronic transmission control device. He is an ASE certified Master Automotive Technician and is also Advanced Engine Performance (L1) ASE certified. Jim is the author of many automotive textbooks, all published by Pearson Education.

 

Jim has presented numerous technical seminars to national audiences, including the California Automotive Teachers (CAT) and the Illinois College Automotive Instructor Association (ICAIA). He is also a member and presenter at the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT). Jim was also named Regional Teacher of the Year by General Motors Corporation and outstanding alumni of Ohio Northern University.

He brings to the subject both his expertise as an artist and his fifty years' experience as lecturer and teacher at the Art Students League of New York. Throughout the book, he places as much emphasis on perspective and planes as on anatomy. In this way, you'll develop a more precise understanding of each feature, the head and face in general, the relationship between features, and the relationship between a specific feature and the face or head. An inexpensive and abbreviated manual to spur on the nascent artist!

Great book for getting better at sketching and understanding structure. It is a constant reference.

I would expect better industrial quality of the book. I understand that the price comes with basic features. It’s not a leather bound, but the pages are horrible, the whole composition of the pages are ugly and the flexibility of the book is just amateur to say the least. Don’t bother, get a PDF.

OK as a reference

This book is little in size and information. I would suggest this brief reading for an Art 101 class. The text reads like foreign made baby crib instructions. Love the deceptive scholastic style cover and the lofty description build up. It would have historic value if it were a 1st edition.

This book is just like a professor's lecture put to print. There is very little context to work with which I find surprising because most of the Dover for Artist Series book are quite good.

Focusing on the undeclared conflict that pitted the US against the USSR and its client states in venues ranging from Afghanistan to Poland, the author offers a notably candid chronological evaluation of what his agency contributed (or did not contribute) to the last 25 years of America's war against Communism. He also provides telling detail on the homefront hostilities in which CIA officials battled their counterparts at other agencies, justifiably wary lawmakers, and investigative reporters to remain in the good graces of the White House. Gates also explains that d‚tente was the Nixon administration's pragmatic response to the CIA's failure to foresee the Soviet military buildup that began during the late 1960s, producing a singular shift in the global balance of power. He goes on to show that there was appreciably more continuity than is generally perceived between the Carter and Reagan eras, as far as effective challenges to Moscow's zeal for geopolitical adventurism were concerned. Still relevant fifty years after it was written, the article along makes this book worthy of purchase.

Every year before the British Open I haul out my copy of Dogged Victims and read once again Dan Jenkins' non-fiction account of playing on a links course. Before long, I'm reading out loud to my wife, who -- so far as I know -- has never set foot on a fairway. We have our best laugh of the year, tuck our tattered copy away on the sports book shelf, and look forward to the following summer.OK, I'll confess. Before the tucking, I sneak out in the backyard with a pint of Junior and read Jenkins' remembrance of Goat Hills. I grew up caddying and loading clubs on carts at a course about a faded persimmon three wood from my house, and this premium example of the sportswriter's art takes me right back to those twilight caddy tournaments -- a ball, a mallet head putter, a flashlight and a pocketful of tees. Listen this July -- you'll hear me howling in the woods.If you love golf and you haven't read this book, don't die yet.

My favorite book from the early 70’s read the whole thing in a single sitting first time I picked it up

Obviously a very dated book, but still full of historical info on the progress of the game in the U.S. Lots of funny anecdotal stories too, whether true or not. Jenkins is a genius.

Must be scarce, because it is highly priced. Good anecdotes about failures

I enjoyed it but the writings are dated and almost "before my time" and certainly before I took up golf.

I'm a lifelong reader of the classics of english literature,but.have a small.interest.in.golf,so I bought the book as some.light reading.The book is hilarious-period.I couldn't put it down and would highly.recommend all of the author's books on the great game of golf.

Nothing special. Just some of Jenkins' writings, some a little more fleshed out from the first publication.

In this classic lexicon and concordance, English words appear in alphabetical order along with the equivalent Greek words, their literal and derivative meanings, and a list of passages in which they appear. The book also includes a comprehensive Greek-English index. The design of this work is to give every English word in alphabetical order, and under each the Greek word or words so translated, with a list of the passages in which the English word occurs, showing, by a reference figure, which is the Greek word used in each particular passage. Thus, at one view, the Greek word with its literal and derivative meanings may be found for every word in the English New Testament. Ethelbert William Bullinger (1837-1913) was an Anglican clergyman, Biblical scholar, and ultradispensationalist theologian. The sixth edition was produced after Bullinger's death. Typographical and other errors have been corrected as far as possible, but no change has been made in the Lexical part of the book. Publisher's note: The 1914 printing of this work was printed with weak type and inexpensive paper. Martino Publishing has enhanced the type and legibility of the text to make the material more easily apparent to the reader.
